Pure Happiness and Pride!
We dreaded it - the thought of Jon David with that much freedom was, frankly, scary. I mean, no crib means no bars keeping him safe and sound. And for various reasons (we moved, Josiah was born, Jon loves his crib, etc.) we postponed the transition from crib to big boy bed. And he'd probably still be in a crib tonight if we did not have a trip planned this summer and we knew there would not be a crib where we're going and a pack 'n play is just not an option for him at this age/size.
See us snoozing away!
So, we picked the long holiday weekend just in case it went poorly. And we agreed, as a parenting team, that we'd allow him to use the crib if things went as disastrously as we thought they could.
But, we're smart. We knew to tie in Thomas the Tank Engine as some sort of guarantee for success. And it worked! We're on Day/Night 4 and he's totally transitioned and loving the big boy bed.
If you ask him about the whole big boy bed thing, he'd say, "I was so surprised!" And asking if it is easy or hard to sleep in a big boy bed still gets the "Hard" response. He's terribly proud of himself. And, as his ever adoring parents, we're even prouder. Way to go, Big Boy!
The cow also made the move.
Even MiMi helped do a practice tuck-in.
Side note: I heard him cry out around 11 pm last night. Thankfully, when I went to check on him, I watched where I was walking and did not assume that the blob on the floor was a blanket. He somehow rolled off the bed though was still half-asleep. I gently put him back in bed and there he stayed all night.
