Big Boy Bed!

Pure Happiness and Pride!

We dreaded it - the thought of Jon David with that much freedom was, frankly, scary. I mean, no crib means no bars keeping him safe and sound. And for various reasons (we moved, Josiah was born, Jon loves his crib, etc.) we postponed the transition from crib to big boy bed. And he'd probably still be in a crib tonight if we did not have a trip planned this summer and we knew there would not be a crib where we're going and a pack 'n play is just not an option for him at this age/size.

See us snoozing away!

So, we picked the long holiday weekend just in case it went poorly. And we agreed, as a parenting team, that we'd allow him to use the crib if things went as disastrously as we thought they could.

But, we're smart. We knew to tie in Thomas the Tank Engine as some sort of guarantee for success. And it worked! We're on Day/Night 4 and he's totally transitioned and loving the big boy bed.

If you ask him about the whole big boy bed thing, he'd say, "I was so surprised!" And asking if it is easy or hard to sleep in a big boy bed still gets the "Hard" response. He's terribly proud of himself. And, as his ever adoring parents, we're even prouder. Way to go, Big Boy!

The cow also made the move.

Even MiMi helped do a practice tuck-in.

Side note: I heard him cry out around 11 pm last night. Thankfully, when I went to check on him, I watched where I was walking and did not assume that the blob on the floor was a blanket. He somehow rolled off the bed though was still half-asleep. I gently put him back in bed and there he stayed all night.

Early Father's Day

Here is a picture of Josiah at dinner tonight. His first taste of spaghetti. He's a fan. The photo quality is not great since Daddy took it with his phone. But, you get the drift and can see the mess he was making. He had a blast!

JD, don't peek!

Everyone else, here is a link to one of JD's Father's Day presents. Not sure what the end result will be but I'm pleased with my plan. :)

Remember, this is a SURPRISE for Father's Day!! Shhhhhh.

Josiah - 9 months

It's that time of the month when I post about Mr. Josiah and his latest happenings. His growth is good but he tends to have big growth months and others where things slow down. For as chunky as he is to us, he remains in the 50% for weight (20 lbs 11 1/2 oz). He's 27 1/2" tall (25% - which is also surprising to us) and his head is teeny at 17" (8%).

He's a very capable cruiser. Though not as fast on his feet cruising as he is on all 4s, he's most happy when he pulls himself up and is standing. He can now stand at the train table and knock over all big brother's trains and tracks. You can probably hear Jon David's, "Nooooooooooo, JoSIIIIah!!!" all the way from NC!

Though often content to observe everything, he is a much more active participant in life these days. And there are times when his babbles are nothing shy of yelling. I imagine it's fun for him to make those sounds and also to get a reaction from us.

He found the stairs and after reaching about the 5th one, I bring him down. (I'm behind him the whole time). We brought back our old friend, the gate which is a drag in terms of getting upstairs. Small price to pay, I know.

I know that Josiah loves his mommy but, wow, he gets so excited to be near Daddy. He especially likes to touch Daddy's face.

9 months - where does the time go?? Thank you, Lord, for our precious son. Every day with him is a gift from you!

Translation, Please!

So, Baby Si is still my sweet baby boy who coos and gives me smiles that melt my heart. That has not changed. Yet, I think this whole crawling/independence thing has changed him a bit. He's a bit bolder and, at times, very vocal. I'm not sure what he was trying to say, but - oh my - he was doing his best to communicate.

Priceless

Goodness, I just love this boy!
